There is something rather special about a handmade Christmas card.
Not the slightly wonky glitter-and-glue creation your child brings home from school — although obviously, those deserve pride of place on the mantelpiece.
I mean the kind of handmade Christmas card that makes someone stop and say:
“Wait… you MADE this?”
I’ve been handcrafting for years, and one of the loveliest compliments I’ve ever received was from people who genuinely thought my cards had been bought from a seller in Covent Garden.
And that got me thinking.
Because there is a big difference between enjoying card making as a hobby and learning how to create something polished enough that somebody would happily pay for it.
So this Christmas, I’ve turned what I’ve learned into a course.

My Personalised Christmas Card Starter course is designed for people who want to learn how to create beautiful, bespoke Christmas cards with selling in mind.
You absolutely do not need to arrive as a professional crafter.
This is about taking that creative spark — the part of you that sees ribbon, card, embellishments and festive paper and immediately starts imagining possibilities — and learning how to turn it into something more polished.
Because handmade doesn’t have to look homemade.
That’s something I’ve learned through years of crafting.
A sellable handmade product still gets to have personality. In fact, that’s part of its appeal. But the finishing, design choices and overall presentation make an enormous difference.
Why Personalised Christmas Cards?
Christmas is one of those wonderful occasions when people actively look for something a little more special.
There are plenty of perfectly lovely Christmas cards available on the high street.
But sometimes you don’t want a card that could be for anybody.
You want their name on it.
You want their favourite colour.
You want something made for a new baby celebrating their first Christmas, a newly married couple, a beloved grandparent or the friend who deserves something much more personal than a multipack card.
That’s where bespoke crafting comes into its own.
You aren’t trying to compete with a supermarket selling boxes of Christmas cards.
You’re creating something completely different.
From Craft Table to Sellable Product
One of the reasons I wanted to make this course is because creative people can sometimes underestimate the skills they’ve developed.
You might think:
“Oh, I just make cards.”
But can you choose colours that work together?
Can you layer different elements?
Can you personalise a design?
Can you take an idea and turn it into a finished physical product?
Can you create something that somebody would be delighted to give?
Those are skills.
The next step is learning how to use those skills intentionally.
That’s what I want this course to help you begin doing.
You Don’t Need a Craft Room Worth Thousands
Please don’t read this and immediately imagine that becoming a Christmas card maker requires an enormous professional studio and every crafting machine known to humanity.
It doesn’t.
I love beautiful craft supplies as much as the next Christmas-obsessed person, but buying everything before you’ve made your first sellable card isn’t the goal.
Start sensibly.
Learn.
Experiment.
Improve your finishing.
Discover your style.
Then invest in additional equipment when you actually know what you need.
I’d much rather see somebody create five beautiful cards with a carefully chosen collection of supplies than spend hundreds of pounds and become completely overwhelmed.
Could This Become a Little Christmas Business?
Potentially, yes.
But I’m deliberately using the word potentially.
I’m not going to promise that taking one course will magically create a five-figure Christmas empire while you drink hot chocolate in your pyjamas.
What it can do is help you start developing a real, sellable creative skill.
Where you take that skill afterwards is up to you.
Maybe you just want to make gorgeous cards for friends and family.
Maybe you’d like to take a few orders.
Maybe you’ll try your first Christmas craft fair.
Maybe you’ll create personalised cards alongside another handmade product.
Or perhaps this becomes the beginning of a much bigger creative business.
All of those are perfectly good outcomes.
Christmas Crafting Should Still Be Fun
This bit matters to me.
The minute every creative hobby becomes about algorithms, income targets and productivity, we risk squeezing all the joy out of it.
Christmas crafting is supposed to be lovely.
Put the Christmas music on.
Make yourself something warm to drink.
Get the ribbons out.
Spend far too long deciding between two almost-identical shades of red.
Enjoy making something with your hands.
Then learn how to give that creativity a professional finish.
That’s the sweet spot.
